Popular amongst surfers, Itacaré is a piece of paradise on the South Coast Bahia.The city offers various options on the Costa do Cacau region. Over 45 kms of coast line divided in several small beaches with a strong wind, perfect waves and the Mata Atlântica stretching all the way down to the beach. This is unique on the Coast of Bahia.
Itacare got more famous after the construction of the Rodovia BA001 Ilhéus, in 1998, and from then on it got visited by thousands of national and international tourists, the whole year through.
Perfect waves roll over the Itacaré beaches. Besides the Itacarezinho beach it’s possible to discover Havai, Havaizinho, Engenhoca, Jeribucaçu, São José and Prainha beaches. These less known and more quiet beaches in the region are the most valued places for surfing.
Besides the beaches, the Usina Waterfall also attracts tourists with the natural swimming pool, before arriving on the Jeribucaçu beach. In this region, the treasures of nature are also an invitation to practice radical sports: not only surfing and windsurfing can be practised, the visitors can also go rafting on the Rio de Contas praticando.
In the Histórical Centre are various shops, bars and restaurants with a busy night life, offering possibilities for all kinds of public.
