Ilhéus offers the best of both worlds: it is urban and country side at the same time. At one side there is the city, on the other side the exclusive beaches, with beach front properties. This is the council with the most extensive coast in Bahia.
The beach North of Ilheus is the most famous in the region. From Ilhéus until Serra Grande is 35 kms beach, the only thing that changes is the name: Ponta da Tulha, Coqueiros, Luzimares and Sargi, where several properties from Bahia Homes are located.
With a national airport, Ilhéus is the entrance gate to the Costa do Cacau (cocoa coast), in the south of Bahia, wordlwide known through the novels of Jorge Amado, the famous Bahian writer, who wrote “Gabriela, Cravo e Canela” and “Terras do Sem Fim”.
Due to the fact that it already has an important history of 500 years, the old village Vila de São Jorge dos Ilhéus still shows traces of the Portuguese occupation in the architecture of several buildings. Have a look at the beautiful public buildings such as the Palácio do Paranaguá, a copy of the Palácio do Catete in Rio de Janeiro.
Ilhéus is full of tourist attractions, like the Avenida, Ponta da Tulha, Sul, Norte, Batuba and Olivença. All of them offer un-spoilt nature, white sandy beaches and a calm ocean. A very exclusive area.
